In the journey of our business from its origin as Halal Fresh to its current form as Its Halal, our inspiration has been rooted in faith. Our quest to understand the dietary principles outlined in the teachings of the Prophet (pbuh) and the foods mentioned in the Quran has been a guiding force when developing recipes. The Quran prescribes a balanced approach to our diet, cautioning against the excessive consumption of meat, likening it to the addictive nature of wine, as conveyed by Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him):
“Beware of eating too much meat, for it can be as addictive as wine.” (Source: al-Muwaṭṭa’ 3450)
This spiritual insight encouraged us to advocate for at least one meat-free meal, aligning with these teachings. When we embraced this philosophy, we encountered a significant challenge – we lost 50% of our business. However, we stayed committed to our principles and persevered. Through education and engaging discussions with our customers, we are gradually reshaping the mindset of many within the Muslim community, fostering mindfulness around dietary choices. where now our customers enjoy a meat-free meal during the week
Our response to this challenge has been the development of tantalising vegetarian recipes. These dishes are not just an alternative but an appreciation of diverse world cuisines and to enjoy more vegetarian options. The result is a collection of meals that are both delicious and diverse, emphasising our commitment to offering an array of choices.
Our ongoing mission is to harmonise faith and food, presenting a holistic approach to dinner times. We cherish and value your support as we continue to evolve and enrich the dinner table experience by aligning it with our core beliefs, values and faith.
