Lets talk about it
We are really grateful to have been part of the NHS initiative on Menopause Awareness Month. A massive thank you to Sharni Bestford for including us in a conversation that’s so important yet still often goes unspoken especially in South Asian communities.
Menopause is something every woman will experience, regardless of where we’re from. Food plays such a big role, eating well and keeping meals balanced can make a real difference, especially for mental health. Alhamdulilah
This is something we’re learning ourselves on how certain foods can help. And here are three ingredients we love, and they’re featured in so many of our recipes
Leafy Greens (like spinach and kale):
Full of vitamins like calcium and magnesium, which help with bone health and muscle function—really key as our bodies change.
Cruciferous Vegetables (Broccoli, Cauliflower, Brussels Sprouts)
Known for their hormone-balancing properties, they contain compounds that may support estrogen metabolism.
Legumes (Chickpeas, Lentils, Black Beans)
High in fiber and protein, which can help manage blood sugar levels and promote gut health. They’re also a source of phytoestrogens, plant-based compounds that may help balance hormones
Little changes in what we eat can make a big difference in how we feel through menopause. It’s all about learning and supporting each other as we go through this.
Don’t be shy to speak up and have these conversations with your loved ones, friends and family. We all experience different symptoms-in varying degrees and can start as early as 30’s but usually 45-55.
Here’s to more open conversations and more awaren
